The Sports Page: Jay Mohr Heads Online with

To the delight of snarky bloggers everywhere comedian Jay Mohr is back on the sports scene with an new column and an online show at FoxSports.com.

The Alternative with Jay Mohr will feature twenty minutes worth of video segments including monologues, sketch comedy and remote reports according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The weekly show to premier later this month will be the first of several online only “sportstainment” shows Fox Sports plans to introduce in coming months.

NBC Preps for 2,200 Hours of Olympic Broadband Video

In a first for the US, NBC announced that it will offer more than 2,200 hours of live streaming content from the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics. Online video will be streamed from the official site, NBCOlympics.com.

The peacock is planning more than 3,600 total hours of coverage, more than any previous Olympiad.

Yahoo! Takes Another Stab at Content

Yahoo! still sees value in producing content. Six months after ditching Lloyd Braun, Yahoo! has signed a first-look deal with Rocket Science Laboratories, creators of reality shows “Joe Millionaire” and “Temptation Island.”

It is interesting to see Y! do an about-face on their content strategy, particularly since they’ve ousted the two previous biggest supporters, Braun and former-CEO Terry Semel.

DailyMotion Introduces iPhone Support

Online video sharing site DailyMotion introduced an iPhone compatible version of their site.

The iVersion of the site retains all of the same functionality as the regular site, with a stripped down layout and interface.

“Dailymotion is committed to providing the best entertainment experience possible,” said Dailymotion Co-founder and CTO Olivier Poitrey. “The launch of the iPhone portal is both a continuance and a reinforcement of our goal to bring our superior video content and viewing technology to new devices and broader audiences.”
