The Changing Face of Programming

One of the amazing things about the online video is the way it is changing viewing habits and as a result, changing the way all media is produced.

The most wildly successful online videos achieve 20 million views. YouTube has had only 10 of these videos in its history, and it takes months or years to get that many views.

After the Filipino Thriller video went viral several weeks ago it continued to grow by blogs and word of mouth until eventually it peaked and viewing slowed down at least in the U.S.

ABC, NBC Open Debate Footage

Well it took a while, but this week NBC and ABC followed CNN in loosening restrictions on debate footage leaving CBS and FOX as the last network holdouts.

ABC will allow footage use without restriction for the August 5th and 19th debates provided they attribute them to ABC. MSNBC will allow unlimited excerpts of last night’s AFL-CIO debate but their guidelines are more specific.

It’s worth noting that ABC and NBC only opened up footage for these three specific debates. Use of footage from the previous 2 MSNBC debates is still heavily restricted.
