China Tightening Online Video Regulation

China’s State Administration of Radio Film and Television and Ministry of Information Industry recently announced new regulations on digital media that will go into effect at the end of January.

The regulations cover professionally produced content distributed online but there is speculation the state will begin to more tightly regulate content on international sites and Chinese video sharing sites.

OpenCulture highlights 10 of the most intellectually stimulating channels on YouTube, which no one is watching. They also point out how useless YouTube’s education section is: while Google has a great text search algorithm, their video filter still can’t figure out that “school girl” videos aren’t necessarily educational.

Clemens Releases YouTube Statement

Roger Clemens has posted a two minute statement on YouTube, defending himself and categorically denying accusations from the Mitchell Report that he used steroids. Clemens will be interviewed by Mike Wallace on 60 minutes January 6th.

Studios Getting to Digital Critical Mass

Move Networks to Support Olympics Streaming

The 2008 Summer Olympics will be the largest live streaming undertaking ever. Late last week, buried at the end of a VideoNuze blog post about Move Networks, Will Richmond reported that Move Networks will support Olympics streaming.

According to a Move PR consultant the extent of the company’s role and the geographic scope are still being determined. Still, this is exciting news for those planning to watch the Olympics online.

For those who have been clamoring for a look at the CPMs of online video advertising, the Web Video Report published a list of CPMs and format offerings from some of the leading providers of online video.

In the pricing survey, WVR looks at the wide range of CPM (and other pricing models) available from publishers ranging from mainstream publishers like The Wall Street Journal to web-video specialists like Break.com and social networking sites such as MySpace.
