The Sports Page: Can Joost Become a Sports Destination?

The NBA announced today that it is following the NHL and MLB and will syndicate content to Joost. Select classic games and highlight packages are now available on the P2P video service but the content is limited and will be for the considerable future.

Sports programming is most valuable if it is current but there is a market for classic games, and this type of evergreen content is particularly suited for the web.

UPDATE: YouAreTV Sells For $25K

UPDATE: Bidding ended this morning with one bid at the $25,000 starting price by Paul Lanzarotti, a former wireless exec. According to his LinkedIn profile, he recently started Duel Network, described as “a wireless, peer 2 peer competitive gaming network.” One to watch.

YouTube Expands Partner Program

YouTube announced yesterday that it is expanding its Partner Program. The partner program enables original content creators to generate revenue from their webisodes or other programming through an ad supported revenue sharing model.

The program is now expanded (read: no long a “pilot program”) to “anyone living in the United States or Canada.” Users can register at the Partner Program Site.

My Damn Channel Adds Coolio

My Damn Channel has added new talent to their programming slate. A.D. Miles orf Reno 911 fame is creating a series called “Horrible People” which takes place at a never-ending cocktail party, writer Steve Kerper will create two new series, and “Cookin’ With Coolio”

will teach viewers to cook soul dishes that are fast, healthy and affordable…Coolio will be joined by two sexy soux chefs, “The Sauce Girls,” and by celebrity friends.

Live Today: 46664 Joburg

Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Foundation has tapped iClips to stream today’s live concert from Johannesberg. Users will be able to view it in HD by downloading Swarmcast’s autobahn accelerator.

The foundation, named in honor of Mandela’s prisoner number was created to support HIV/AIDS programs and awareness. Watch the concert here.

30 Rock: Fingers on the Pulse?

Maybe its all the talk about product and brand integration in the online advertising space that made this scene of ‘30 Rock’ make me laugh a little harder than normal. Maybe it was just funnier in general. But the Verizon Wireless integration into last week’s episode (which I watched on DVR but could have watched the whole episode on Hulu) made me think about product integration and how it will ultimately work online.
